From the vineyards around the castle in Montalcino, this wine is the only red wine without Sangiovese. This wine is combines Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon. Both are vinified separately and aged for a year before being blended together for a further 8 months ageing. This wine is only made in exceptional years. Intense with very fruity scents accompanied by more complex notes of jam, spices, tobacco and coffee. In the mouth it is rich and ample with sweet tannins and a persistent finish.
