Jean-Jacques runs the family domaine with his wife Agnès and son Vincent. Over the past fifteen years, he has built the estate up to twenty hectares of vines stretching from Corton in the north to Volnay in the south. The whites are now as good as the impressive reds with delicious wines being made in both Savigny and Pernand- Vergelesses. Top premier cru close to the border with Aloxe-Corton Grand Cru across the road from Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru. The wines of Pernand always have a firm, tannic structure but this is complemented by lovely ripe flavours of both red and black fruits. Superb wines at the fraction of the Grand Cru price! 2015 has been the most enjoyable vintage to taste from cask that I can remember. The hot, dry summer gave a healthy crop of fully ripe grapes that have resulted in rich, concentrated wines of immense charm and promise. The warm conditions better suited the black grapes. The harvest that was set for the middle of September was brought forward to the last week of August in the warmer Mâconnais and swiftly followed further north in the Chalonnais, Côte d’Or and Chablis. Overall, it is a splendid red vintage with the ripest wines since 2009. As a result of the lower yields and correct acidities, the wines combine the best characteristics of 2005 and 2009 having both freshness and opulence – a winning combination.
