Chateau Bellegrave Pauillac 2015

Chateau Bellegrave Pauillac 2015

  • Country: France
  • Region: Pauillac, Bordeaux
Chateau Bellegrave lies in the south of Pauillac, surrounded by plots of the greatest classified growths. The historic property was owned by the Van-Der-Voort family until 1997, when Jean-Paul Meffre purchased the estate. Since that time, the Meffre family has invested heavily to restore the property, upgrade the cellars, and acquire additional vineyard. The Chateau and cellars and the lion’s share of the 8.3 hectares of the vineyards are located just south of the town of Pauillac, neighboring Latour, Lynch Bages, and Pichon Longueville. 3 hectares are located in Artigues, next to Grand-Puy-Lacoste. All of the vignoble is planted on the deep gravel deposits for which the area is known, and from which the estate derives its name.

Decanter 90 points - A small-sized, good quality property owned by Ludovic and Julien Meffre. This has a small dip through the mid-palate, although it starts well and there is a definite sense of careful extraction. The fruits are clean and brambly with fresh mint leaf on the finish. (Nov 2018)

James Suckling 92 points - An impressive wine with plenty of fresh cassis and dark cherries leads to a palate with succulent dark fruit and an approachable, fleshy finish. Drink or hold. (Feb 2018)
