Christmas Classics perfect Christmas Case Menu - by Simon
Umbrele Pinot Noir
I love Pinot Noir and this is a fresh and fruity, unoaked one, packed full of red fruit aromas that follow onto the palate. A bit of a hidden gem from Romania, which does produce good wine. Pinot Noir goes well with a range of dishes, including Roast Turkey.
Pasquiers Grenache Noir
Grenache Noir is widely planted around Southern France and Spain and is often blended with other varieties. This one combines red and black fruit and sweet spice on the nose with intense berry fruit and liquorice on the palate. Would pair well with cheese.
La Chapelle de Marin Cotes du Rhone
With attractive, juicy, bramble fruit and floral aromas, the palate is up-front and fresh with warm spice and real depth. This is a classic southern Rhône red; ripe and characterful with smooth supple tannins. Soft and Southern. Ideal for a cold winter’s night. Herby sausages, pasta with Mediterranean vegetables, stews.
Les Oliviers Chardonnay
Smooth and refined with an underlying twist of freshness and supple, soft, ripe, fruit flavours on the palate, finishing with a squeeze of pithy citrus and candied pineapple. Best served chilled. Fantastic both with and without food - try it with fish pie!
Pasquiers Sauvignon Blanc
A deliciously refreshing change from straight Sauvignon Blanc. Luscious exotic fruit aromas from the Vermentino are balanced by the clean, zingy fruit of Sauvignon, resulting in a wonderfully aromatic smooth dry white. Could be paired with nibbles on Christmas morning, including, for example, smoked salmon canapes.
Domaine de Vedilhan IGP Pays D’Oc Viognier
Honeysuckle on the nose; richly textured and nicely balanced with flavours of apricots and a satisfying delicate bitterness on the finish. Intense flavours which will pair well with spicy dishes, including Turkey curry.
